Once registered, go anywhere – SSO 2 Single Sign-On

Description

With the libraries.ch login, a new login procedure was introduced in project SSO 2 (Single Sign-On), simplifying the use of library resources. The libraries.ch login enables customers who use a university library as private customers to use both traditional and modern services with one and the same login. Examples of modern services in this context are electronic resources specifically licensed for the customer group known as private customers.

As a first step, the libraries.ch login was introduced in ETH-Bibliothek on a small scale. Since the beginning of 2016, it has been possible to use E-Lending and the public workstations with the libraries.ch login. Over the past year libraries.ch has proved itself in operation and been used by more than 2,000 people. And a security audit, rated very high, has been conducted by an external company. The libraries.ch login procedure is now also ready to be used in other networked libraries.

The next step will be to verify with interested networked libraries the processes for expansion so that the libraries.ch login can be used throughout the network in the current year.
