Loan periods in the NEBIS catalogue |
Duration of the loan period |
The loan period might vary depending on the type of document or the NEBIS library. The standard loan period is „28 days/140 days“. This means that the maximum loan period lasts 168 days. After the first 28 days, the loan period is renewed automatically 2x by 28 days each time. Afterwards, you can renew your documents online 3x at most (see Renewal online), until the maximum loan period of 168 days has been reached. Renewals (automatic or manual) can only be carried out if no reservation has been made. The loan period shown in the user account respectively in the NEBIS catalogue is binding in any event. Even if a reservation has been made, the document will not be recalled until this period has expired. This also applies to the new loan period after a renewal. If the maximum loan period has been reached, you must either present the documents for re-booking at the desk of the library which owns them or return them along the usual channels. |

Renewal online |
After the loan period has expired, you will get a reminder in which you are asked to renew your documents online. Therefore, we recommend you to wait for the reminder before renewing your documents. This is the only way to profit from the maximum loan period. Please consider that the new due date is calculated based on the date of renewal. Example: The loan period of a document ends on the 19th December. If you renew the document on the 23th December, the new loan period is calculated based on the 23th December: the new due date is the 19th January (in case of a period of 28 days). To renew a document online, please follow these steps:
